Trip had to be cut short due to a loss of two rims, courtesy of a big fire log in the middle of Hwy 1.

Was following a car at average speed  a few miles before Ukiah, car swerved in front of me to avoid a nice chunk of wood, didn't have time to react so hit it heads on with both rims. Front tire went flat soon after , coasted to the side of the freeway. I am pretty sure know that the busa runs on flat tires.

Officer Haddad called AAA, none available, called a secondary outfit wanted $ 600 for a tow to San Francisco. Bill was gracious to use his mini air compressor to bail me out. Rode it slow, felt like i was riding some square tires.

Thank you Officer , Thank you Bill for the company. It was nice to discover some roads as well as revisit some favorite ones.

I'm glad you're having a good time Ike. One question though..how on earth do you leave the brake lights on? And you're one light packer..minimalist  Grin

Brake lights on, i still Haven't figured that one out, it must have been the heat or the waitress at the truck stop. Not in the pictures is my small backpack.

A performace award for going slow? That's terrible.  Grin The Busa is one tough touring bike. Great pictures Ike. 5 stars.

Awesome pics, Ike!
Too bad about the rims, glad it wasn't worse.

Utah, maybe; FLDS, no way. It definitely takes a religious fundamentalist (and a masochist!) to actually think having more than one wife is a good idea..well, more than one at the same time.

I had no idea Idaho was so pretty; I wonder now how to get there without the Cali Cruiser equipment adventures along the way.

Hi Ike,

I just saw this thread. Very nice picture log of your trip. Bent rims? - could have been a lot worse. You did a good job to take that log without going down.

The after picture :

I think this is the result of the primary impact of the log and the subsequent damage of riding the rest of the 120 miles homes on bent rims.

If the damage occured under the spoke, then those rims would be trash.  It's good that he was able to fix it.
